i caught the olympics track and field event earlier this morning before i head for school.
China's defending Olympic 110 metres hurdles champion Liu Xiang sensationally retired from the event without competing in his first round heat because of injury.

He looked all set and ready to give his all during the warm up session i saw before the heats.
The Chinese crowd in the stadium were all eagerly waiting for the Chinese hero to get pass the heats with ease but unfortunately, China's only hopes of an olympic medal in the track and field event shattered as they watched Liu walked out on them.

i guess, he couldnt take the pressure.
Can you imagine the weight on your shoulders when you know everyone is depending on you and you being the star of the host country and then at the last minute you walk away. DAMN!
its almost like, the table tennis finals yesterday. imagine if the spore team just decided to settle for silver without even trying to fight for the gold! Well i guess thats how the Chinese felt back then when the olympic record holder back in Athens 2004 decided not to participate.

Well, he did show signs of his injury when the false start was made.
but then again, was that really the reason?
and ironically, that same lane (Lane 2) was the one, Terrence Trammell of the U.S. was in, when he pulled a muscle as well.

As for Liu, that marks the end of his olympic campaign. Guess he will be heading home. Oh wait, he is home!

You know, like what my grandfather told me, some events are just ridiculous. Say for example, weightlifting. My grandfather said "weightlifting event is like- you can carry, carry lor. Cannot go home lor!" hahaha.. Come to think of it, quite true uh.

ahhh well.
Sports is also about politics.
its not all fair in love and war is it?
some created history, while others create disappointment..
