guess who's back from india???!!!

i dont know where or how to begin this entry of my trip..
it's like you know, i wont be able to put it in words.
you gotta be there kinda thing.. if u know what i mean.... hehs..

ok here's the jist of it...

The 2 week trip was nothing but aweson genuine FUN!! i really enjoyed myself.
what an experience!! The food, the culture, the people... everything just blow me away..
although there were times when i felt like going home but tt was jus coz i miss the food.

like what fahm said " it was an eye opening, nose opening and ear opening experience..."
Eye opening coz i get to see a total different culture, nose opening coz everywhere you go there'll be many kinds of "wonderful" smell and ear opening coz theres NOISE everywhere.. Every second u can hear car horns for no reason what so ever!! The roads in india really damn cool.. vehicles everywhere and people crossing as and when they want to, just like what i did as well..
hehe... very disorganized.. They drive so closely to one another and yet they dont crash!!! how professional is that??!! hahaha..Chennai is like little india but 10 times dirtier.
wahahhaha that made my day you bitch!! love you!!

me and fahm were like twins when we were in india.
we bought similar stuffs and even did silly things together.. hehe
that i shall not say...

ok back to the trip,
the plane ride, goodness me.. terrible!!
the weather was soooo hot like in the oven kinda hot..
i swear i would jump into a pool the minute i saw one!!
There wasnt a day when my body did not feel sticky.. And u get thirsty every minute..
So had to bring mineral water everywhere you go...

the guesthouse was great!! it's a 2 storey guesthouse
with proper living room and dining area.. we were lucky to get this.. Really...
considering it is a service learning project.
i would've expected some run down building that we had to live in...

Food was a little bit of a problem. it was vegeterian almost all the way...
some days, it felt like we're eating puke!!
we did manage to eat chicken/mutton briyani but that was like what,
once a week? most of the time we had to go with some weird indian food
that i never thought i would love it in the end.. hahaha..
at first it was the common indian food like thosai and chappati...
so it was still fine but then it got more and more vege like and i couldnt
take it anymore... we were all as weak as vegetables.
and eating rice with the white natural yoghurt would be the last thing on my mind..
but hey i survived!! and it tasted good actually.. not too bad...

The project went well, considering we only had 3 weeks to prepare and we were all busy
with school. There were changes here and there and unfortunate incidents that i shall not go into.Teaching the kids maths and english was quite frustrating at times due to the language barrier but i didnt mind at all. Some were even good in english, the older ones. And boy, there were fantastic in maths!! really2 good!! It really felt great to be able to contribute as much as i could to improve their lives.. I love them so much!!

They taught me alot also.. one of which is to appreciate life in every way!
you know, i really feel lucky to be where i am today, with proper shelter and living environment. and most importantly, a family to support me all the way.

The kids, they are so independent and full of respect..
No one can imagine that they are all orphans.. it's like i just wish i can adopt all of them.
One boy from my team, Prabhu, drew a potrait of me.. i was soo touched!
If i have the money and the time, one day i am gonna go back to Uduvum Ullangal and contribute even more to the kids there.. Thats one of my ambition. Other than that, we went to Little Flower Convent, school for the deaf and blind..
And again, my heart did break just to see them in that situation..
OMG i cant keep doing this to myself...

Then comes sight-seeing. we didnt go to much places..
i mean after all, it is a service learning project right..
But Mahabalipuram was damn nice man.. The structures were really wonderful.
Carved from rocks!!! PUSSY NICE!!
i bought this charmed triquetra choker.. nice!!

We also went to the tsunami affected area!! The beach was soooo windy. so cooling...
a huge wave came crashing on all of us and i got the worst hit coz i was right in front!!
it was pretty scary and i thought i was gonna die..
i thought a tsunami was coming or sth...

I went horse riding with fahm!!and it was by the beach..
can u imagine how romantic it was if the ride was with someone special??
damn fun man.. and the best bit was that i controlled the horse myself!!
but half the time i was imagining the horse going wild and throwing me into the sea..
fahm was being such a coward!! she was super scared!! soooo cute !!!
We took an auto. its a 3 wheel vehicle thing.. yellow in colour.
it's their public transport, sort of like a car combine with a bike... i think..
The bus ride was OMG!! it felt like the bus was gonna break apart any moment...
with the number of passengers and the bus even tilted to one side.. GOSH!!
it was rusty la....

We had a 3 day 2 night homestay in the slum area!
That was one hell of an experience! Imagine ONE bathroom for the 15 of us and the water to be used for bathing, brushing teeth and cleaning our asses were SALT WATER!!
like from the sea!! arghhhhhhhhh damn GROSS!

However the best part was the roof terrace! it was a nice place to be at, especially at night.. we can see soooooo many stars in the sky! Gorgeous.. not only that, even at night the whole area will still be alive.. Music everywhere... So damn different from singapore. I like the life there... Cows, goats and chickens everywhere!! and plus there were fireworks in the sky...!!
what better way to spend the holidays than to be with your frends in india, watching the fireworks!!

Culture shock was something that i experienced back in india.
And especially since it was my first time to india. yeaaaa....
when we are there, we really have to respect their culture and tradition and really be one of them, an indian. only then, will you be treated lke one of them and not be alienated or being stared at all the time.Wherever you go there will be people staring at u.. especially since it was sooo obvious that we look like foreigners. Its kinda creepy.

The customer service was terrible.. sometimes you gotta know how to play the game.
you wanna buy stuff, you make sure they dun "ketok" you just because ur a foreigner.
just like what me and fahm did, we bargained our lungs out till it was reduced to half..
how shiokkk!! Everywhere u go, u need a guy with u.. can be quite frustrating at times coz there were only 4 guys in the team.. DAMN!! haha..

Life in India is really slow paced. As a singaporean, i want things fast..
thats the bad point. No patience.
But then again, they really work slow as well.. too slow.. lol
Everything seems so peaceful and nice.. Maybe because we were together with friends..
Every night without fail, we will have some bonding session in either the Guy's room or the living room at second level..
Some nights we will be bhangra-ing away!! oh man!! i miss the team and the kids!!
the pillow fights!! the silly and naughty things we did!! gosh!!

The trip has made me a different person.
I see things that i never thought existed and i learnt a lot from it. I bet the rest did too.
A year ago, my trip to the thailand orphanage, was similar to this.
It made me a better person knowing that in this world, there are kids out there who need love, care and concern and to be able to help as much as i could made me feel great.
There's only so much i can do. The rest is up to the world.
Humanitarian help whould be the best help that they can ever get from us.
May god bless them all...

pictures will be uploaded soon...
DAMN.. sch tmr!!! all the best MOFOs!!
i'm out...
